Company owners answer after hours calls!

2/22/2022 (Permalink)

From day one the four owners at SERVPRO of West Evansville knew that an answering service was not for them.

The moment the phone rings, we are preparing to speak with someone on the other line that has just experienced possibly one of the worst catastrophes of their life. The owners don't believe that an answering service will do justice for what the customer deserves. The customer deserve to speak with someone that understands what the next steps are. They also deserve peace of mind in such a horrible situation.

Emergencies do not always happen during "work hours" which means one of the four owners is answering the phone at 2:00am if that is when the disaster occurs.

Call SERVPRO of West Evansville today, we are here to help and we are ready for any disaster that come your way.

Where does Mold Grow?

1/24/2022 (Permalink)

4 Common Places for Mold to Grow

Mold growth and even mildew growth can be damaging to your home. Once mold starts to grow it can cause odor, and structural deterioration. Here are some places you might want to keep a watch on.

- Paper—Surfaces like wallpaper, stacks of old books or magazines, even cardboard boxes stored up against an outer wall. Making sure that the rooms these items are stored in are temperature regulated and well ventilated.
- Drywall—Any drywall in the home is susceptible, especially in damp areas like the bathroom or under sinks. Making sure that there are no leaking pipes and if any water is split that it is cleaned up and not let setting for long periods of time.
- Wood—Wood in bathrooms including inside cabinets, the subfloor and even the studs behind the shower surround or under the tub are all subject to mold damage if dampness is present. Making sure that bathtub over flows are properly cleaned up, when taking a shower make sure a vent fan is running or crack a window to allow steam to escape.
- Organic materials—This includes such things as cork flooring or wall covering, cotton fabrics, leather and even soil such as the floor in a crawlspace. Make sure vapor barriers are properly installed in your crawl space to insure water does not get settle into joist causing mold to grow under your home.

As always the best defense against the effects of mold damage is to keep your home dry and clean. In the event of a leaking pipe fitting or even a pipe burst, water extraction and thorough drying should be top priorities.

Call SERVPRO of West Evansville today to service all of your mold needs. Let SERVPRO take care of your mold damage in your Evansville Indiana home.

Our Leadership, Part Two

7/27/2021 (Permalink)

We officially became SERVPRO of Vincennes owners in January 2013. Danny's parents (Leonard and Mary Drewes) and Danny's wife, Morgan. We hit the ground running. I think there were days we were actually running! Our newest addition as of May 2019, SERVPRO of West Evansville has already been extremely busy and we are SO GRATEFUL. Evansville has always been a city near and dear to our hearts, and when the opportunity to purchase it came available, we hit the ground running, again.

From the beginning, we knew we wanted our SERVPRO to be a company with integrity, and honesty. We wanted to base our business on serving others and serving them well. This is something you will often hear us say, after all, that's what it's all about.

SERVPRO of Vincennes and West Evansville has become another family to all of us. The people we have brought together are exactly what each business needed. It has been incredible watching this story unfold.

Our Leadership, Part One

7/27/2021 (Permalink)

SERVPRO is an amazing company to be a part of, and every owner has a different story! Our owner's story is below!

Entrepreneurship has always been in Danny's blood. He comes from a long line of family farmers and he started his own mowing business as soon as he could drive. For a sixteen year old, it really took off. He is a worker.  He spends a lot of time on the phone and computer nowadays, but if you asked him what he preferred he would say physical labor.

Fast forward to today. He actually just decided to close the chapter on his mowing business in 2016. We are thankful that our business has grown and we all knew focusing on SERVPRO of West Evansville was the next step. SERVPRO of West Evansville has been an amazing journey and we are loving every step!

Danny saw a huge opportunity in SERVPRO while working under Dave Wolfe (Owner of SERVPRO of Effingham, Illinois) and he ran with it. We would all laugh and say that he decided to drag his parents and wife into it too.

Check out part two!

SERVPRO of West Evansville and the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

3/22/2020 (Permalink)

Here at SERVPRO of West Evansville we are not taking this pandemic lightly...we are doing "business as usual" but truth be told, nothing is really usual about it, these are difficult times for all of us. Water and fire damages have continued to happen...and we will continue to serve those in our community and surrounding communities. When it comes to COVID-19, dealing with biological hazard such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi is nothing new for SERVPRO of West Evansville…for years we have successfully performed bioremediation, mold remediation, sewage remediation, and many other services within environments that posed potential hazards. There is still so much to learn about the novel coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). As a service provider continually working in customer's homes and businesses, SERVPRO of West Evansville and our team are prepared to the very best of our ability to work in an environment of heightened awareness as we navigate though this difficult time. We are focusing on additional cleaning and decontamination steps prior to restoration services commencing. We will also be going out of our way to find additional ways to support local businesses in our community. We must remain strong...all of us.

Why SERVPRO of West Evansville?

1/22/2020 (Permalink)

Every New Year, countless people create resolutions and set goals to improve various aspects of their life. In 2020, all of us here at SERVPRO of Vincennes and West Evansville are looking forward to how we are going to SERVE you better this year. It is such an honor to be a part of the SERVPRO family, the industry leaders in restoration techniques and technology. Going into 2020, we were inspired by our SERVPRO Head Quarters in Gallatin, TN and their hands-on training facilities. We are blessed to have a large warehouse space located at our West Evansville campus that will become the home of our very own Production Practice Room. This space is an actual to scale, framed in room that will simulate the real-life materials that our Production Technicians would experience in our customer’s homes and businesses. The Production Practice room will be a supplement for the already fantastic training programs offered through SERVPRO, such as our HeroReady Program, our detailed learning path that can equip anyone with the tools and resources necessary to make it “Like it never even happened.” The room will be a new tool that will take the teachings of pen and paper and transform it into physical muscle memory in a safe, learning-conducive environment. This resource will be a playground of sorts for experienced techs and new hires alike to test cutting edge equipment, tried and true procedures, and challenge their own creative ideas. We look forward to the growth we gather from our training resources at SERVPRO and implementing them into our already successful culture to be able to better serve our communities. This New Year, this is a resolution that you can count on us to keep; in fact, it is more than a resolution. It is the SERVPRO way. -Matt Modlin

What Sets us Apart?

1/20/2020 (Permalink)

As one of the owners here at SERVPRO of West Evansville I have often been asked "What sets your business apart?" My first thought is to rattle off all of the reasons that I know first hand on why we are the better restoration company. I quickly recalculate my thoughts as most people think they are "the best" (I promise we really are :)) and I find myself at this simple answer. "Myself or Mary (another owner) are going to be the voice on the other line after you experience one of the most traumatic experiences of your year or maybe even your life. You won't be talking to an answering service. We are sympathetic, we are people, we get it. We are here to help you."

That's it. Period. It's my favorite thing about our business and no matter our growth, that will never change. We promise.

We are the Faster Restoration Company

12/10/2019 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of West Evansville knows how important it is to get your business up and running following a disaster. The longer your doors are closed, the more revenue you are going to lose.

Disasters can cause an interruption in business that can be devastating. We have seen our share of these in Evansville Indiana.

Did you know that it is estimated that fifty percent of businesses that experience a disaster will never recover, of those businesses that do recover, a majority of them had a readiness plan in place? That static is shocking to most! But it's the reality.

How can you prevent that from happening? Preparation, it is the key component for making it through any size disaster, whether it is a small water leak, a large fire or an area flood. The best time for planning for these events is not when the event happens, but well before it happens. No one ever plans on a disaster, but you can plan for it. SERVPRO's Emergency Plan can help minimize the amount of time your business is down and get you back to work. Are you ready for whatever happens? Call SERVPRO of West Evansville to get your plan today.

When Time is of the Essence

11/8/2019 (Permalink)

When you are planning an event you never think to plan for a disaster.

That is exactly what happened to a local church camp, they never expected a large water damage just 48 hours before a week long family camp. Their gymnasium, kitchen, classrooms, bathrooms, offices, and storage areas all had experienced water damage and were unusable.

They did not know what to do or who to call. All they knew was that in less than 48 hours there would be hundreds of people needing to use the facility that, in that moment, was unusable.

SERVPRO of West Evansville received their call that Friday morning and sent a large crew on their way. The crews worked late into the night Friday and started early Saturday and worked until the job was complete and ready for family camp to happen.

At SERVPRO of West Evansville we have seen some of the most unimaginable things happen at the worst of times. That is why SERVPRO of West Evansville is a 24-hour emergency service company. Because we know that disaster does not wait for good timing.

We also attend a huge trade show that has all of the newest programs and equipment ready for you to test out. We spend a lot of time speaking with sales people about their products and asking how we can better use them or if we need to upgrade anything we already have.

Knowledge is power and we bring home to West Evansville everything we can to improve our business.

Mold Remediation

6/18/2019 (Permalink)

During the Spring and Summer months we receive multiple phone calls about mold. There is a very gray area with mold. What we have found from speaking with homeowners about mold is that mold can be a scary thing.

One thing that isn't a gray area, if you see visible mold, do not disturb it. If you do, mold spores could be spread throughout your home.

What to Do:

  • Stay out of affected areas.
  • Turn off the HVAC system and fans.
  • Contact SERVPRO of Vincennes for mold remediation services.

What Not to Do:

  • Don’t touch or disturb the mold.
  • Don’t blow air across any surfaces with visible or suspected mold growth.
  • Don’t attempt to dry the area yourself.
  • Don’t spray bleach or other disinfectants on the mold.

About Our Mold Remediation Services

At SERVPRO of West Evansville we specialize in mold cleanup and restoration. Our mold crew leader, Clark, is one of the best we know. He has been with us for almost four years. He is specifically trained and specializes in remediating mold from your home quickly and safely.

SERVPRO of West Evansville is ready to remediate your mold today.
