What is Water Mitigation?

7/4/2020 (Permalink)

There are some technical terms we use here at SERVPRO of West Evansville that many people might not know. We are quick to use these words with each other but sometimes forget to slow down and explain them to our customers! We want everyone we work with to know and understand exactly what we are doing in their home. Honestly, it's a science. But we are always happy to explain it! One of those words are mitigating water. Check out the process below :

Water mitigation is the process of reducing or preventing the amount of water damage that happens after a flood, a leaking roof or any number of water-related reasons.

Mitigation enables people to recover more quickly from a disaster.

Mitigation lessens the financial impact of disasters.

As mitigation specialists, SERVPRO of West Evansville focuses on reducing loss, enabling quick recoveries and lessening costs involved with restoration of property damage events.

Give SERVPRO of West Evansville 812-465-2500 a call to have water in your home mitigated!

Who do you Speak with After Hours? The Owners.

6/29/2020 (Permalink)

Did you know you are speaking with one of the four owners when you call our number after hours? You do! We love speaking with you.

As always, we are here to help you, and taking the initial phone call means the world to us.

The moment the phone rings, we are preparing to speak with someone on the other line that has just experienced possibly one of the worst catastrophes of their life. The owners don't believe that an answering service will do justice for what the customer deserves. The customer deserve to speak with someone that understands what the next steps are. They also deserve peace of mind in such a horrible situation.

Emergencies do not always happen during "work hours" which means one of the four owners is answering the phone at 2:00am if that is when the disaster occurs.

We started this business eight years ago and our purpose was and always has been to serve others and serve them well.

Call SERVPRO of West Evansville today, we are here to help and we are ready for any disaster that come your way.

Imagine that is your business that caught on fire or you are one of the surrounding businesses. It's a horrible thought, especially after the shut down of Covid 19. After the panic subsides..think about your plan.

How would your business bounce back? Could your business bounce back? Every business should have a contingency plan, and should regularly update the plan as times change. These are scary questions we know. We've had to ask ourselves the same things.

A hair salon was only shut down for 2 days while we were able to clean all of their contents and the building that endured smoke damage.

Storm Damage to your Home?

6/21/2020 (Permalink)

Storm damage is always something people don't expect to happen. Do you have an emergency ready kit just in case?

We were actually surprised to learn that 51.5% of US homes have the recommended emergency kit in their home or car. We thought it might be a lot less than that.

Most of us here at SERVPRO of West Evansville to have our emergency ready kits, but not all of us.The American Red Cross encourages that each household and car have a preparedness kit.

The top items in an emergency kit should be:

  1. Water
  2. Canned food
  3. Can opener
  4. Flashlights
  5. Batteries
  6. Enough food and water for each person in your household for 5 days.

SERVPRO of West Evansville ready and here to tarp your roof, remove debris, fix your roof, fix your siding...but be sure to have you emergency kit ready for the things we can't fix!

Not All Water Damage Restoration Companies are Created Equal

5/8/2020 (Permalink)

Did you know that not all water damage restoration companies are created equal?

Well they aren't....That's why we wanted to write this post. When people have a "wet basement" or "sump pump failure" most of them call their insurance company or they google what to do. That's okay. We do that when we are looking for companies too. But just because a company is on google and can mitigate water from your basement does not mean that they have any credentials at all! Shocking and scary huh?

Here at SERVPRO of West Evansville we are IICRC certified and we are a certified firm. That might not explain much but what that means is that we have the highest credentials possible for water damage restoration.

We are proud of our credentials and we feel that our quality of work shows it.
